Mission
Tenzin Samdup is an exceptionally talented goalkeeper and the sole professional footballer within the Tibetan community. He is also a member of the Tibetan National Football Team. Unfortunately, the Tibetan National Football Team is not recognized by FIFA, preventing them from participating in the World Cup. Samdup has previously played for various elite football teams in India and even secured victory in the Indian championship. His initiative, known as "The Seed Project," aims to cultivate and enhance the football skills of Tibetan children at the grassroots level.
"I have always aspired to see more Tibetans excel at higher levels of football. My goal is to change our people's mindset and show them that a child's future can be shaped not only through academics but also through sports. While we emphasize formal education, there is a vast world beyond waiting for us to explore." - T. Samdup
Samdup's mission revolves around establishing a football school dedicated to providing children with the training and opportunities essential for nurturing their talents as future professional footballers. There's an urgent need to create a reference point and offer children the chance to excel in a place where they can learn, grow, and thrive. Initially, Samdup planned to construct a small football pitch for this purpose. The academy will be situated in the Tibetan settlement of Mundgod, one of the oldest and largest Tibetan refugee settlements.
